It's hard to set good tracks down that'll pick up fine details like dermal ridges, even harder to be at right place at right time to cast or scan one (I expect with the scan feature of new Iphone and future handhelds we'll have much more 'good' tracks made available), so the sample size is still pretty small. I’ve personally witnessed and/or experienced irrefutable evidence of things outside a normal explanation- with nothing less than military-grade observation technology- and I still have a difficult time emotionally accepting the conclusion, so I shuffle it away instead. No matter how impartial science claims to be it never is. The problem isn’t evidence, it’s the fact that belief is often an emotional choice. This means that any hoaxer would not only need to understand ape physiology to create convincing tracks, but would also need to expend unfathomable amounts of money perpetrating the hoax across North America instead of just one region convenient for them to access. The best evidence is the collection of hundreds of tracks from across North America with identifiable biological features known to exist only within the great ape family. I think this type of comment comes from a misunderstanding of the weight of the evidence that exists- and that’s nobody’s fault because sadly shows like Finding Bigfoot make no real effort to explain the evidence well, or make the entire subject look like a joke.
